Being appointed Council Chair for DFF’s research councils is a great recognition, as these are responsible for evaluating applications from researchers across disciplines nationwide. This honor has been awarded to two female researchers from DTU. Associate Professor Kirstine Berg-Sørensen will chair DFF’s scientific research council for Natural Sciences (FNU), while Professor Susanne Brix Pedersen will chair the council for Technology and Production Sciences (FTP).
The chairs are elected among the council members and play a key role in ensuring the strategic priorities and effective operations of the councils. The Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF) supports free and researcher-driven research through five scientific councils, which collectively allocate approximately 2.1 billion DKK annually to fundamental as well as applied research. The research councils consist of 75 distinguished researchers, who in addition to awarding research grants also advise the government and the Danish Parliament on research-related matters.
Susanne states: ‘I look forward to leading the Council for Technology and Production Sciences (FTP) and working closely with the council members to promote groundbreaking research and technological innovation. I am eager to share our progress and results with the public and grateful for the trust placed in me in this important role.’
Kirstine states: ‘The activities in the Council for Natural Sciences (FNU) is an exciting opportunity to strengthen fundamental research in natural sciences, computer science, and mathematics. I look forward to collaborating with the other council members to advance such research initiatives and I am honored to have been given this position."
